Thanked: 101King and WEI - WEI make good beginner hones. I started setting bevels on a 1K King but my 1K Shapton Pro is faster & the edge might be a little better. My Wei-Wei 3K/8K Combo & the 10K are good but slow stones. They are probably lower in grit than that but I can shave off of the 10K. Nice & smooth edge.
