Thanked: 46Wedge razors honing in the past????????
So, did you guys ever think about way how in the past people honing wedge profile razors? Primary I think about era before electrical insulation tape exist as we all know that today adding one or two layers is necesary to hone wedge razor?

Thanked: 2591My guess is they used to be honed with no aid to prevent the spine from wearing.
Tape is personal choice some like to use it some do not at the end it does not change the result of the honing.Stefan

My old barber that was one of my early mentors with straight razor shaving had this wedge that looked like an ax head. He used it to shave the back of men's necks, especially if they had very coarse hair. He used a carborundum stone to hone it.
