Thanked: 0Hey Guys,
What do you think of my first attempt at repair and honing?
Before:
After:
started on a norton 220 then went to the 1k -> 4k -> 8k -> 12k->CoOx .
Did 40 circles on 220 & 1k with 10x in between each set until the nick was gone. set the bevel on the 1k using Lynn's circle technique (arm was tired by now ). Then move to the pyramid starting at 20x. Then 20x on the 12k then 20x on the CrOx.
I will have to wait until I have more stubble to test but I am really looking forward to testing my first attempt at honing.

Thanked: 20I'd say it was a success if you got the chip out and produced a shave-ready edge. Nice work.

Thanked: 3No worries I had exactly the same thing happen when using my brand new Boker. Using Lyn's circles on a Norton 1k I managed to restore the edge better than new. The Boker is currently in my rotation and a super shaver.
Echo keep family out of the shave den razors are sharp and dangerous a fact we should never forget.
Happy shaving

Thanked: 0SUCCESS!!!
I shaved with it this morning and I could not even feel the hairs being cut!!! I took a few trips to the hones but I learned a lot in the process. I also find honing to be rather relaxing... nothing like taking steel to stone to make you feel manly
As for the kids, I now lock my bedroom AND bathroom door. That way I dont have to worry about them banging on the door.
