    No, just add tape and start honing. Patience and persistence are the keys here. Don't forget the tape.

    For future reference, the lapping plate will create a slurry, but as AFDavis has mention, forget that for now and get busy. Dont forget the tape.

    If the blade is a wedge be sure to keep the tape even along the spine so that it is even/equal along the sides of the blade, this is not as important on a hollow, but very much so on a wedge. If not done properly you can end up with the oddest bevel and old wedges are prone to odd bevels as it is.

    Tape and a DMT 325 will work out a slight frown in no time.... A lot of frowning needs more work (ie breadknifing) Good luck.
