Default Is this $9.99RadioShack 60X microscope good for inspecting a straight's edge?

I read, somewhere in the forum, that the edge of a straight razor can be inspected well at 30X magnification.

This RadioShack microscope is rated 60X-100X and is only $9.99.

Is this microscope a good purchase, or is it too strong?

Note: they also have a set of three magnifying glasses and the strongest one is 15X. I doubt that is a good option but am mentioning it anyway.

I use one, and find it helpful. It's much better than the naked eye!

I have one of those. It's can be a little tricky getting the edge in focus, but you can see a whole lots once you get in there

They will do the job but as mentioned it takes some practice.
The resolution is OK but not great. I use a Minolta 30X. It can be found on Ebay, new, with a bit of searching for about twice the total price. It has better resolution.

    Hope this helps,

I think the RS microscope is one of the best tools I own. I love it. I actually have 2...a 30x and the 60-100x. Again, love them. I don't have resolution problems with mine. I see everything I need to.

Check out edmunds scientifics on the web they have a bunch of small microscopes all for really reasonable prices.
