Congratulations! That has to be the longest post by anyone I have ever seen on any forum I have ever been a part of, EVER! You better ice your hands to prevent soreness tomorrow...

I just came up with a great idea, it might help to cut this thread back to size, and help SRP at the same time....
I think I should go back through and eliminate every post by anyone that has not done a Straight Razor Instructional video and posted it for all to see...
Murray of course you can join the forum and post since you have, so how does that sound, wanna yap in this thread, ante up a video, and post it, that way we cut this down to size and we get a ton of new videos of new ways and ideas of doing things...
I mean that is only fair right, put your "time" where your mouth is, take the time to help others, and you earn the right to type here.... Pretty easy to have an opinion, but not so easy to actually do the videos and have others tear them apart...
I think I like it... yeah I like that a lot...
I'm camera shy.
I would have to do it in cartoon/stick figure format as i have no digital video camera
In view of the thread trimming Glen might have to do,maybe we should all hold off posting in this thread for a while ?
Naw I didn't say that as a Moderator Oz
I was just making a point that although I think someone should show Murray the Google site so he can find that he ain't teaching anyone here, anything about straight razors, that hasn't been tried and discussed ad nauseum on SRP, at least he did a vid...Right, wrong, or in between he did one...
Post away gents, post away
More things coming from the good side..
Seems that a few of the guys that bashed on myself, Mainaman, and Undream, are beginning to get interested in Straight Razors so gents some of them are watching our Vids now... BTW Stephan, I told one of them to contact you about how and what Nagura to use on a traditional Japanese honing setup, and JimR another is contacting you and Maxim207 about stones...
Just remember anyone that is interested that isn't an SRP member YET :) "GIYF" just Google things like "Convexing the edge", "Tape", "Backhoning", all these things have 100's if not 1000's of posts here on SRP going back years... For the Carbon Popout or what ever Carter said, you might want to try the term "Fin" and also read the Voerhaven (sp*) papers...
They have been discussed, torn apart and re-discussed until our fingers bleed typing about them, try them, and try them again and see for yourselves...
To MC, since you keep deleting my responses on your channel...
Although I appreciate the offer, I do not have the time nor the interest to spend 3 days in a class, I do however have the time and interest to spend a Sunday afternoon with fellow Straight Razor guys in our area, (the PNW) talking Razors and Hones, we do this twice a year up here...
The last Spring Meet was in Walla Walla so that is pretty close to you, the other is in Sept in Spokane closer to me than you, but still close, that is the bigger meetup. This is probably the one you will want to make as a couple of the Steel Bangers usually make it there... You are welcome to join us at either or any we do.
("Steel Bangers" is a pet name for people that actually make razors)
They are FREE yes FREE (yes that was a little dig at you :p) we are quite happy to share our knowledge here...
But I warn you, we only talk about Straight Razors, we are a pretty boring bunch of edge geeks, but we will be more than happy to re-visit the topics that you are describing.
To any of the other non-members following this,
We have Straight Razor Meetups across the world, the info is in this forum we created just for these, and most of our members are very welcoming to anyone that shares a passion in the hobby ...

22 pages of pure unadulterated BS. What a train wreck of ego.
This thread, with 217 replies has gone far enough. The horse has been beat enough so nothing else to see here. Thread is closed.
Not long ago I ordered a Carter Cutlery video to help me sharpen knives, and I've had very good luck with his methods -- on knives. I just watched one of his videos on straight razor sharpening and I'm a little blown away. First, he starts his process by going back and forth with the razor, or up and down if you will. When he gets a new edge on the blade he "strops" the blade on the stone pulling the blade back instead of pushing it forward. His final strop is on a piece of newspaper, which is common for people who sharpen knives.
Any thoughts on this? Here's the link: Carter Cutlery Razor Sharpening - YouTube
I've never seen anyone sharpen a straight razor like this, but I'm tempted.
