Honing my razors has always been a lot less trouble than having several girlfriends!

After following this thread and viewing the razor sharpening video and finding it highly suspect as to results. After knowing Lynn has tried to duplicate the technique and finds it lacking. And knowing the honing techniques suggested and taught on this forum work! I would suggest this quote attributed to Mark Twain to Mr. Carter:

"What gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so."

Long time lurker, just wanted to give some background info about Carter

    1. He's well-respected in the knife making community, if you go to Knifeforums.com > In the Kitchen or http://www.kitchenknifeforums.com most people there agree that his knives are fantastic and that they come "scary sharp" out of the box

    2. His personality and marketing style rub some people the wrong way

    3. He claims that tools are around 10% of the equation being skill the other 90%, so in order to get your knives sharp, focus more in improving your skill and less in the next best magic hone, compound, etc.

    3. He is not afraid to put his money where his mouth is and won the Sharpening Olympics @ The Knife Forums using the King 1k/6K combo, the runner up used hundreds of dollars worth of hones.

There is very little doubt he is a master at forging and sharpening steel (he's also an ABS Mastersmith). What remains to be seen is if the same methods that worked so well with knives work with razors, so I would love that Gssixgun takes him up on his offer.

ps: I'm not affiliated with Carter in any way, shape or form, but I do own a couple of his knives and enjoy them immensely

    Magic hones?

It obvious you fellas never heard of the Colossal Coticule. Using it is almost a religious experience.

Newest video. I'm subscribed to his channel if you can't tell. He makes awesome knives I hear. I'll take a knife, but pass on the razor honing, I think...or maybe I'm curious enough to just send him a razor and then test it. I might do that if he's willing.

If you think about the fact that he doesn't come to forums and spend hours discussing with tons of people, he's actually got some good ideas. Not saying you should do it his way, but I am saying (like in my previous posts) that the guys thinking he's an idiot should probably back off and check out their own bias and unwillingness to research in advance before making a judgment.
