A question I never thought I would ask
The other day I was honing a couple of razors and I was in the zone,...hairs popping ,beautiful sharp smooth edges, but then I used one and got the suprise of my life, this one razor was TOO sharp, and thats never happened. The shave was smooth and didnt irritate my face but I wasnt paying attention and the edge just barely touched my knuckle and the blood started like crazy, right down to the bone, what do you do in this situation? As I said the shave was great but the edge is like a shard of porcalin,if anyone is familiar with that YOU KNOW how that will sink into your skin,a lesson I had to learn the hard way, someone told me not to touch it and six stiches later I believed him,so any sugestions?

Welcome! You finally have learned how to hone. Now, stropping is the key to tempering that edge, not less effective honing.

I'd grab the superglue to stop the mess, check the edge carefully to see if I ruined it on my knuckle, remind myself that razors are for hair, not knuckles - then shave on :P

These replys are too funny, I guess paying attention is the answer. I really thought something was wrong,I didnt even feel it touch me, when I saw the line in my knuckle I was compleatly suprised,I guess I got it right, although the super glue was a good idea, wish I had thought of it then, It wouldnt stop bleeding, and on the spot it was ,its was hard to keep it closed.
Thanks
Griz

While super glue isn't a bad idea it can lead to infection and problems if you really do need stitches. Best things is a clean towel and direct pressure on the wound and get to an ER.
And as stated above the very best answer is to pay attention and not get the wound.
