Default How to lap a Kimberley?

    Hi,

I just got my Kimberley stone in the mail from Tilley, next job is to lap it. I don't have any wet and dry paper at the moment, so my options are:

    1) Lap it against my Norton (4K side).
    2) Lap it against my Norton (8K side).
    3) Lap it against my 150 grit ceramic flattening stone (http://www.axminster.co.uk/recno/12/...one-32262.htm).
    4) Lap it against my 600 grit water stone.
    5) Lap it against my 1K grit water stone.

Which would be best? I was going to use the 150 grit flattening stone but wondered if that's too course to lap a fine stone like the Kimberley. Would that make the surface to rough?

    Cheers,

    Iwan

    600-1000 grit wet-dry autobody sandpaper on a glass/marble plate.

I'd go with the 600 grit wet/dry. The other options you've listed will result in your nice flat hones being lapped by the Kimberly. Not quite the result you want...
