For me it's the Shapton 30K's aloofness and extremely slow-cutting indifference. It's like a beautiful blonde that you sidle up next to at the bar, buy her a drink, lay your best lines on her and yet know in your heart of hearts that you're just not good enough for her. She looks at you, smiles, casts you an accepting glance, but deep down you know she's not listening to you but thinking about someone else. That's how I feel about the 30K as I spray water on her, watch the water flow in front of the edge, yet I cannot see any result from it at all. Sometimes I'll take the 30K with me to the bar, spray water on her there in confidence that, at least in this one case, I can take this girl home with me.

I may also be completely out to lunch here.... but I don't care. I love my Norton 8K!
+1 on the Norton 8,000. It sucks the razor's edge to it so seductively it never wants to leave...

While I have not found a stone I can't live without (not that I'd ever sell one) I have one that I always use for touch-ups that I just like, My Ohira 1.5" x 8" stone. It was my first Jnat and I just love the way it rocks in my hand to fit any blade style I have rubbed on it.

I have not used my Norton 4/8k in a long time, should get it out and polish up some kitchen knives.., My synthetic stones are for kitchen knives while naturals are for razors..

Jinzo 2k, no other synthetic stone feels better than this imo. Its also a very fast cutting stone too that leaves very fine surface. silky buttery. Similar to coticule with slurry but better.

I was given a low grade thurry. Although its not finishing quality, the feel in use is quite nice - and performs as well as my cotis for taking from a set bevel to about the 8k level.

If I get to feeling too good, I pick up a coti and that takes care of it.

The Norton 8k is one of the best feeling stones imo. In the lower grades, I like the 1k Chocera, and the 2k Shapton pro a lot. I wish there were a set of stones that would feel like the Norton 8k, from 1k to 12k, and they don't load up... I am dreaming a bit here
