Interesting conclusion to a very fun post gugi! Keep them coming Is the stropped edge picture the result of stropping right after the 1k nani and or the DMT or that you took the picture of the stropped edge of a shave ready edge where finer stone were used?

Also, what kind of ruler is that it looks like you can shave off of it too

Oh no, stropping alone can't do that much
I just honed it through my standard progression Naniwa 5000, 8000, 12000, then Escher, then stropping on linen, russian type horsehide and finally kanayama shell cordovan.
I'll post some of the other photographs I have, though a lot of them are too blurry. It's a real pain to get them on focus as I use a simple point&shoot camera that does autofocus only. I bet the AI it uses looks for contrasts, so when the scratch pattern gets more polished it picks a different part of the image to focus on (like the upper end of thee the bevel, or the grinding marks above it)...

This is why I try to push the use of magnifiers, they will tell you everything the other tests wont, except the shave test, there is no substitute.

Yeah, they make life so much easier for guys without much experience. I actually have few more rather cool ones on the 1k level, that I'll try to post tonight - they're very educational
