shaved this morning with 50 extra laps on the la grise. the only differance was a more mellow edge which you would expect, no keener just more comfortable. between the 8k norton ad the coticule finish there realy is'nt a massive diferance like i felt just more mellow a great combination. I must now try 4k/8k plus my 10k naniwa that will be interesting...
Play with the 8k to 10k transition.
The raw grits involved are so close that tinkering
with things like touch, lapping, slurry, stropping and
a whisker of dishing on the 10k hone might change your
mind from time to time.
The Norton 8K constantly pleases me. I keep reaching
for my 10K, 12K and 13K hones because I think I should
but gosh darn that Norton 8k can give a razor a very strop ready
edge.
A bump for a fantastic event and it's corresponding thread! I enjoyed the various skill levels from beginner to professional and all the insights it provided.
I'm going to break out my 4k/8k and try it again myself.
Thanks guys, good stuff!
I am in!
I will re-sharpen a Torrey I have and then I will get another one out of the pile and document both.
Some threads deserve a Lazarus effect I guess.
