BTW Honewear IMHO is best left only on the hone, I personally think it is ugly as sin itself when it becomes Spinewear, in fact the only things I like even less on a razor is Patina, Rust, and Pitting But it is your razor and not mine so the choice is always yours...
Not to speak about the "even" wear of the spine and the edge. I have never seen a razor that had honewear on the spine, and on the edge equally, out of about 300. The spine was always much more worn than it should have been, taking into account the blade width. This can be seen very nicely on toe-honed razors, where you can see what the original blade-width was at the heel. It is not uncommon that a 6/8 razor has 4-5mm wide hone wear on the spine at the toe, none at the heel, and the blade width difference doesn't reach a milimeter between the two. Now, that amount of honewear is butt-ugly (for me), be it even or uneven, and the edge angle became more acute, rather than staying the same. For me aesthetics are important, so I don't put honewear on my razors after I polished them up
