    IIRC, Tim Zowada calculated that adding one layer of 3M electrical tape, model 33T, adds about .75 degree to the angle. I do not recall if that if that was on each side or the total change, included angle. What you really need to watch is the width of the bevel. The wider it is then the longer it takes to hone and the weaker the edge ( it is thinner).
