Thread: Finally it all comes together

I picked up a minty W.H. Morley 5/8 barber notch SR a few weeks ago. The edge was rolled and I could catch my finger nail in one side of the blade. I have a Norton 4/8K but I have never been successful at setting the bevel and getting a shave ready edge. Until today! Thank you Gssixgun for your honing videos. Especially the one on setting a bevel using slurry and the 4K side of the Norton. I watched it till I had it almost memorized. (At this point in time LOL)
My first attemp at shave ready was almost there but it tugged some and I was just not satisfied. Last night I went back to the 8K side for a few more passes, then some on a Ninawa 12K and finally the Latigo strop. I could hardly wait to get up and shave this morning. I'm here to tell you the anticipation was worth it. Just a fantastic BBS shave. All the more enjoyable because I did the honing.
I know it's only one blade but it's a start. Now if I can only repeat it. I've asked Santa for a Norton 1K and Lynn's modular paddle so I can try the pastes and sprays.
