Breaking it in is an important part, my DMT scratched the suface of my soft Nortons and Naniwas every time, and it didn't break off after a lot of lapping. I used a kitchen knife for 10 minutes on it, and it was perfect after it. My new toy, the 400 Atoma is even better, perfect out of the box, no sticking, and very fast too. Pricey, but a joy to use

The holders arrived today. Ahhh! so much easier. I spent some time breaking in the DMT-325 with an old dull knife and then lapped my new Norton 1K. It went very well and the surface does not appear to have any scratches. Thanks all for the advice. I like it when a plan comes together.
