Default Hart Steel honed with taped spine?

I think I read somewhere here that Hart razors are factory honed with tape on the spine. Can anyone confirm this?
My year old Hart razor needs a little touch up, but not a full honing below 8K. So, if it was originally honed with tape, I assume it would be best to continue with tape for a light touch up.

    Does anybody know about this?

"At Hart Steel, we use one layer of electrical tape, to protect the spine, while honing. The tape is placed lengthwise on the spine and then folded over the sides. The tape is optional, but we like it."

Even if it had not been taped, one layer won't have any deleterious effects and will protect the spine.
