    Default Siliceous earth

A few menbers of Nassrasur.com have recently been describing good results using siliceous earth to hone razors.

On a glass plate they make a slurry of extra fine siliceous earth and water or oil and use it as a hone for their razors.

Has anyone of you ever tried this?

Just wanted to share this info with you all.

Kees, I have thought about using some green clay I have laying around, but I don't think I'm gonna experiment with my favorite razor

I think any material harder than razor steel is a candidate for honing material and since steel is really pretty soft stuff there's alot of materials just waiting for some adventurous person to experiment with.
