Thanked: 9Lithide opinions
How is the Lithide working out for you, guys?
I have had mixed results. Hollow Puma, Taylor, WKC - nice and easy. Others - especially framebacks and wedges - boy, it takes a while, and results are not as nice. Of course, it might be just that I am not able to hone the wedges well. But then people say framebacks hone as hollows - not in my experience, certainly not with the Lithide.
Cheers

Id say Lithide is coarser than Norton 8000. For now, I've stopped experimenting with it...

Thanked: 1It sharpens my hollow Dovo brilliantly, but that's the only thing I've tested.

Thanked: 9I just put the final touches on a 6/8 Goldedge on the lithide - seems to have worked great, but I haven't test shaved.

Thanked: 346You shouldn't need anything more than the 4k/8k Norton to get those framebacks into great shape. I don't own a lithide, but it's gotten pretty mixed reviews. Pick up a shapton or one of those reddish-brown barber's hones off of ebay.

I didn't really like the results I got from it, so I'm using it on my kitchen knives now.

Thanked: 4I find that the blade feels like it's a bit coarser than the 4K. I prefer my Honemaster or Cushion Strop barber hones over the lithide.
