I haven't had the opportunity to use either; but, from what I understand, the coticule is a natural stone while the swaty is a barber hone, if I'm not mistaken. Both are used for finishing. Can't say much else though. Hope this helps.

I have both and I prefer the coticule. The swaty is a barbers hone and personally I don't like the small barbers hones. I find them awkward to hold and use while my coticule is full sized and just easier to use. As far as results go I think they are probably equal as finishing stones. If you like the small stones you can get the swaty and save yourself a bundle over the coticule. And yes the coticule is natural stone while the swaty is manmade ceramic. You just have to make sure if you get the coticule that its of a quality that is in fact a finishing stone. The quality and grade varies markedly.
