    Default Slurry?

Synthetic slurry, what's the benefits of them. I usually use a dmt so I was curious if it would be easier to get a syntheic slurry stone or continue using the dmt

making slurry releases more grit particles, normally this is done to cut steel faster and in rare occasions to smooth out those cuts..

Using a DMT releases particles from the base stone only, using a Synthetic Nagura or Prep stone can release particles from the Nagura or prep stone too..

Many believe that the best Slurry stone is a piece off the base stone..

The problem here as you can see is that you are adding variables to the process and every time you do that you are starting at square one with your honing regimen and have to figure out what changes you are making...

When learning to hone start simple then go crazy later

Yes get a few, dozen successful "honings" under your belts and feel comnfortable with the process before you start changing things around..

This hobby doesn't allow for rushing into things, it requires a person to slow down and take your life back to a slower time even if for only 30 minutes in the morning..

This trend also applies to honing the razors..
