Thread: Just sent off my first razor edge to try

Well today was the day to see how my edge is after honing. After just a couple of weeks of honing I feel confident that I can give my edges to someone granted all I use is a 4000/8000 norton I haven't gotten experience to use a finisher so I'm not even going to touch them yet till I get a routine down with the 4000/8000 stone first

I feel confident you have much to learn.

Seriously, congrats on getting a shaving edge so fast-- that is an accomplishment-- but you will be amazed by how much better your edges are in a month, a year, two years...

I've been honing for a few years now, and I can still say I'm learning!

I completely agree I'll be learning forever with a straight razor which is perfectly fine with me

I'm glad that you have followed my council and are staying on the 4/8 for awhile. Once you are very confident that you are getting a Good, Close and Comfortable shave off of the 8k you will have fun off of that 12k of yours!

I am going to give the 4k/8k stone a run here soon as well. I hope I get confidence as quick as you do lol....I am comfortable with the fact that it is a never ending learning process

I'm in no rush masta on honing I don't ever wanna ruin my edges or razor so patience I will extremely learn hmm
