I am fairly new to honing and I have had some success to get a razor to shave well. So far I have mostly used the Norton 4000/8000. So, when I am honing on the 8000 side, I can barely get it to pass the HHT. I just did a “JaNorton” on my Boker Red Injun, and I got it to HHT 2 while honing on 8000. But when I did 7 laps on Crox, it went immediately to HHT4. That surprised me. Does anyone have a theory as to why that happened? Could it have been slightly overhoned, and then the spine-leading strokes on Crox would have corrected that?
So is this a proper progression: HHT 1-2 off the 8000, HHT 3-4 off Crox, then strop and shave? Or should I really work on the 8000 side until it gives me a solid HHT 4?

Thanks so much for this forum. Without all this knowledge-sharing, I would be nowhere.
