Yeah thought about that although the straight is harder to use there i do go in the same direction. I did fine the DE is harsher and the straight smoother, but the DE does cut it when the straight does not (that is my straight). I am very interested in finding out how a pro-honed razor would perform compared to my own.

Theoretically the edge of any DE should potentially and always be sharper than any SR. This is because of the thinness of the metal and the lowest possible coincident angle (rarely approached by manufacturers because of the fragility of the resulting edge). Even with a perfect edge on both the DE and the SR, the SR is lucky to achieve less than 7 degrees on an extra hollow, 7/8" thin spine design, while the thickest DE disposable stainless blade can easily drop below this with potentially greater sharpness. However, both edges are exceptional sharp and can cut whiskers. The "edge" (pun intended) really goes to the SR for toughness and extended use over time. The DE is disposable for a reason. Once they have been used it is almost impossible to regain the original level of sharpness. Not so for the SR which can be maintained at a comfortable shave ready level almost indefinitely. I hope this helps. Enjoy your shaves with either one for different reasons none of which should really be because of sharpness.
