Thanked: 0Honing pyramid recommendations
I have a 1000/6000 combination and also an 8000. Can someone provide recommendations for a pyramid for this setup?
My razor (my first) is a Dovo that I purchased last year shave-ready from Straight Razor Designs. This will be my first honing.
Thanks. Darren

I suggest a "pyramid" of just the 8K stone! See if that's enough. There's no reason to reset the bevel (which is what the 1K stone will do) unless you have to.

If that doesn't work I start off with 8K, 6K using something like 5/3. That way you can move up slowly. You can also pyramid with three grits if you understand the concept well enough. But for a beginner I think it's safer for an 8/6 k pyramid, then add in the 1k, say 2 laps, every other pyramid step.
So in pyramid annotation it would look like:
8/6k- 5/3, 5/3, 5/3, 5/3- Test
1k- 2
Repeat
