    absolutely, just have to be careful to keep the razor on the face of the stone... i do it on cotis or thuris that are of similar size, i believe 1x6

    i'll do circle's sometimes when setting a bevel but thats it on a finishing stone i'll do straight back and forth strokes and x pattern strokes .

    On a smaller hone I like to think "spiral" rather than "circle", but I guess it is the same thing really.

    I mainly use circles to start with on every hone in the progression and then move to 'pigtail' strokes and then finally slow, light X strokes
    Hang on and enjoy the ride...
