Weekend Hone Fest
All of the shavers in the attached pic went onto the Nortons this weekend. Great fun, and great results. The only one that required a bevel set was the lowly Gold Dollar 200, which, ironically, came out with the keenest edge (at least according to the HHT). The Bergisher Löwe also came off of the 8000K able to silently split hairs. I'll let you know how they shave when I can try 'em out.
Used a combination of techniques I've seen on YouTube videos, including those from ToxikWaste and our moderator, gssixgun. I particularly took a shine to gssixgun's technique of using circular strokes on the 4000K to get an edge back into basic shape quickly.
If you've been contemplating learning how to hone, I encourage you to jump in and give it a try. With the video instruction available and a set of Norton combination water stones, it's really enjoyable and satisfying to learn the skill.
Cheers!

Incidentally, razors pictured include (left side top-bottom): Gold Dollar 200, Torrey 136, Henckels Twin, Shumate Barber's Deluxe; (right side, top-bottom): Otto Busch Weltmeister (scales by Max), Dovo Bergisher-Löwe, and a Kropp/Sheffield.

Great looking set you have there....those scales on the Otto Busch are BEAUTIFUL!!!! also is it just an illusion or does the GD have a heal to toe slant (ie uneven width)? it looks really off IMO.

Yes... the GD blade does taper heel-to-toe (not due to my honing, though)
Incidentally, I took an alcohol-soaked cotton square to the GD blade to give it a basic sterilization before shaving... and the alcohol removed all of the blue imprint on the blade! LOL! Shaved with it this afternoon. It's actually pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. Although I'm not sure how long it'll remain that way. I had to acquire one out of curiosity.

Nice seven day set there. You've got something from three of the seven continents!
(now that would be an interesting set - one from each continent, although you wouldn't be able to get an antarctic razor...)
