Wonderedge revival?
Picked up a Wonderedge this weekend in pretty haggard condition. It had a mild frown in the edge that was pulled out well enough using 45deg. strokes on a Naniwa 1k. Afterwards, I used a piece of tape and went to work honing at 1k to set a new bevel. After the bevel was set, I went on to a full progression. Under magnification, the edge looks great...HHT fails, and shave test fails in the exact location of the frown. So what's up in this location? How can the location look completely shave-ready under 60x magnification but fail the other tests?
So what do you think I should do...drop back to 1k and bring the entire edge down a bit more or apply a little extra finger pressure in that area and drop back to 3k or 8k? I'm afraid that if I use the finger pressure, it'll start bringing that frown back, but by the same token, if I keep honing at 1k, it'll add more wear to the razor....
