I'll second Randy on this one. However I will do more experimenting with hones, once I get a new job and more financial leeway.

Thanked: 8Me too I think.
I like the look of Bill's system (see video) with the changeable magnetic surfaces impregnated with some green stuff for final polish, supersharp edge.

Thanked: 346The only other suggestion I would make is to use Chromium Oxide instead of the 0.5 micron diamond paste. It's the same grit, but the edge feels better on your face. But that's a minor thing.

Probably chromium oxide 0.5. I just started using it without any other abrasive compounds and so far my only test yielded a GREAT shave. That's why I gave up on the magnetic surface idea lol. Well I will give up if the Tonsorial (one of the more established pieces in my rotation) repeats the performance.

Belgians are like other stones...
Using a belgian is easy as spritzing some water on it and honing your razor. No magic. No special skill. They've been the stone of choice for quite awhile now and they are used all over the world. One way to improve your edge would be to follow a norton 8k with a yellow coticule. You won't be sorry you tried it and you'll be amazed at the edge.
