Thanked: 0Where to buy lapping film in Europe
Hello,
I want to buy some lapping film (1,3,5,9u) but it's quite difficult to find in Europe.
I have find 2 stores in Europe that have this films, both in UK:
Cousins have 3 and 9 microns
Worshopheaven have 1 and 5, but these are PSA.
Do you know where can i buy all those grits from a single place?
And another question: how is PSA working ? I mean if i stick it to a piece of glass, can i get it off and reaply it latter ?

I'm not sure about the UK, but over here I find it at all the Fibre-optics suppliers.
That industry has traditionally used fine lapping film a lot for polishing fibre-connectors.

I don't know how this famous PSA works, but no, you can't get it of and then glue it again. For razor honing, I don't really think you need so many different grits. 9u-micron is around 2k grit. 1 micron is somewhere near 15k. The rule I generally follow is, the next stone in the honing process should have around 3 to 4 times smaller particles from the last. 10 micron to 3-4micron and then 1 micron.
You can email those sites, they might have some pieces, if you haven't already. Both of them offer pretty cheap shipping and lapping films are not 2kg whetstones.
A different option would be sandpaper. They are the same thing. 1000, 3000, 5000 grit sandpapers, and then, you can go to 1 micron lapping film. It works pretty well and its cheaper.
