I can only imagine the frustrations a new honer would have trying to learn a stone that is supposed to be a 12K stone only to find out it's not as fine as a Norton, Naniwa, or Shapton 8K. You will NEVER hear me recommend a Chinastone/PHIG/C12K. I will bet you a Chinastone...that four out of ten do not improve an 8K sythetic edge. The best $ is on a Naniwa 12K. Then, once you learn a known synthetic finisher like the Naniwa 12K, try a Chinastone. If its any better than the Naniwa 12K, I'll pay for it & you keep the stone. This is called putting your $ where your mouth is.

P.S.: I've made this "bet" quite a few times & I have never had to pay for someone's Chinastone to date.
You're so right regarding this point. You pays your money and you takes your chances
