I defer to the expert, but personally have found the 'rolling' stroke very useful for complex blade shapes and slight warps on happy Sheffields.
Then there is the 'rolling' strop stroke, which also works well for stropping, IMHO.
Greg has taught us honingnoobs so much, and I am forever grateful for his JANorton 4/8k challenge, and all his excellent videos! Thanks Greg!
Like all things, there are many ways, and each individual needs to try to find their own.
Don't discount the 'rolling' stroke or any other technique without trying it for yourself.
    Cheers!

Here is my Marshes and Shepherd 'An Excellent Razor'.
I've been practicing on several other smiling Sheffields in preperation for it.
It is not warped, but is a very complex grind.
Smiling spine and edge, tapered width and depth from heel to toe.
I want to preserve its condition and remove as little steel as possible to get it shave ready (being over 150 years old).
