In your experience, what are the best value stones on the market, and where can you purchase them, i.e. Sears, Home Depot, ACE etc…
Thanks for any help in advance.

I was going to post that you need to slow down, learn to lather, stop and shave before you even begin to 'think' about honing until I saw Glens post!

Glen’s 100% RIGHT!!! Hands on guidance will give you more than reading 1000’s of posts and online advice!!!!

I learned so much just watching Glen at last years Spokane Meet Up!

Please follow Glen’s advice and get a hold of randydance! You will thank him time after time!!

Be patient! This Art takes time and has a huge learning curve!! I’ve been at it for over three years and I’m still learning!!

With that said; once it starts to fall into place you’ll never regret taking the art up!!

I'm w/ deaddrift, Glen & Cudarunner. Learn the shave w/ a pro edge.

Like deaddrift, I too ignored this good counsel. Tons of time lost, brutal harsh edges, lots of bleeding.
    .
I can only chime in on Glen's advice to return stones & spend the money to get w/ Randy. At one point I asked Glen if I could buy tutorial time w/ him. You'll shortcut alot of heartburn by getting w/ Randy.

I know the urge to get self-sufficient is strong - was for me & prob. everyone else. Learning to shave and hone at the same time held back my shaving skills alot. A bit over 2 yrs into it and 351 blades honed, I would not repeat how I did it. If money is an issue for honing, pick up the cost of a bubble mailer and return postage - I'll gladly do the edge.
