    Default Smile/pit removal two'fer?

I have a razor with a slight smile and a decent sized pit very near the edge in the center of the blade.

If I apply several layers of tape (say 3) to the spine, would it be possible to remove both the pit and
the smile at the same time?

I'm thinking that by increasing the bevel angle a bit (and with careful honing strokes), only the metal
in the center of the blade would be removed, thus straightening the edge and also removing the pit
    simultaneously.

It seems to me that that would be preferable to bread-knifing the edge. Am I on the right track?

That is probably what I would do, though I may or may not remove the tape before setting the "final" bevel. Not to remove the smile, but to keep steel at the toe/heel.
