    Default Coticule

    Hi all,

I'm intersted in getting a Coticule so that I can get a really good edge on my blade after honing with my 4k/8k Norton. However, I'm not really sure what to look for in one. I've found the below on ebay and was woundering if this would be any good. Also, if you can't tell as is, could you let me know what questions I should be asking before I put a bid on it.

    Thanks for any help,

    Steven

It's funny how we end up competing against each other a bit on eBay. I think someone here snagged the Swaty I was watching over the weekend...

Unless you know that the person you are dealing with is very well versed in the specifics of the stone types it will probably do no good to ask an Eboy retailer questions. What you want to know is the kind of imperfections in the stone ie any cracks or fissures or chips and most important the degree of fineness or grit size of the stone.

I would suggest contacting Howard at theperfectedge.com I got mine from him and he sells quality stones and knows all about them.

The seller is an infrequently visiting SRP member.

I did contact the seller, and in fact the coticule comes from here, or so he says.

Ther's an old saying about "buy the seller more than the product". If you have confidence in the seller and think the product is OK get it and take a chance.
