Default My honing has been validated

I sent a razor that I honed to Larry from Whipped Dog. A short time later he e-mailed me back and I'm happy to say he seemed somewhat impressed with the edge. He made particular mention that the blade was shave ready, and evenly honed from tip to toe.

It's nice to get some feedback on this. Feels good.

Thanks Larrry. Also thanks to this forum and it's members for teaching me everything I know about razors.

    Feels great doesn't it! Congratulations.

Honing your own blade puts you on another plane altogether.

Congrats! May I ask what method you used? Was it the pyramid? That's what I've been using with good results. I was thinking of doing the validation that he offers, just to get a second opinion. Again, great job to you sir!

    Rod,

I generally don't use the pyramid. I haven't ever gotten a good feel for it.

I honed Larry's razor on Norton 1k, 4k, 8k. I'm not sure if I did diamond after that or just plain leather.

That's a really good point. I like buying razors from guys on here because I know they have exacting standards. My edges aren't quite there yet, but they are close.
