First off I should say that my best razor is a Genco 6/8 Old Dutch and honestly it was the first razor I restored and honed. I honed it and got big headed and dropped it and had to remove a small chip, but it turned out to be a great shaver. You could say that I jumped head first with shaving with a straight razor cause I started with a shavette and moved to this straight razor without using one professionally honed first which I wouldn't recommend. I got lucky. All I can say is that this razor was a "PITA" to hone I practically had to stand on top of it for my Norton 1k to remove metal. I finally got a new strop with felt backing and some diamond spray and wanted to try it out since I have only been using a leather strop and this razor has shaved the same since I first honed it. There was a slight improvement, but it really didn't need to be touched up to begin with. I thought I should use it on this one first since it hasn't failed me yet. After about 50 shaves on just leather it was going strong and I really wanted to see how many I could get before touching it up, but I guess I got impatient and wanted to see how the diamond spray would work. I know some of you are wondering why not test it on a razor that needs to be touched up, but this razor hasn't failed me yet and it would give me a good sign if it would improve or worsen the edge. Now to test it on a razor that needs to be touched up, but I'm pretty confident now that it will improve the edge.
