I have used that stuff as well and found the more i used it the better the edge got, the secret is you need to use a lot of it!

    Stimpy

Could we persuade you to try some single malt scotch. I will recommend something in the Glenlivet family.

It's been known to actually dissolve swarf right before your very eyes.

Works better as strop paste, since it's the micro/nano charcoal crystals imparted from the barrel that we are after. Just apply, let dry. Just use leftovers during the drying to kill time. Mmmm?

Stimpy, will that amber color stain my Norton 4000 or my shapton 16000?
If it does, I guess I could use the rest on my Carborundums.
It might stain the stone but you won't care.

Laphroaigh Quarter Cask goes with everything!
I think it's the smoke that gives the edge the final polish it needs.
A Cohiba cigar goes well with it, again "the smoke"! (If you live in the US, to bad! )

Everclear would be good sanitize wise, but only good for honing razors made out of aluminum and I leave that to the pros...

Every time I try using bourbon to find the perfect edge I seem to go over the edge. Sometime later when I get back up I can't seem to find the edge and often I can't find the razor or the stone.

    YMMV
    It just keeps getting better
