TFJ is set up solely to sell things "out of the country", I don't think they sell in country, at least not much. So that means you're they're intended customer.

For us Europeans, we can get it here; japan-messer-shop -
I guess that's why TFJ say on their web page; "*Special Note; We are unable to send these stones to Germany due to a special request by Suehiro. "

Looks like the pre-VAT price for that place is about $260

Do you think they ship overseas without charging VAT?

Stu and I know each other. If I bought one of the Suehiro Gokyumos from the German place, stu would reply to my email fast! I've been a big fan of what stu is trying to do from day 1, because before he was around in the US, we had a lot of mail order catalogs that were overhyping what they actually sold (this is from a tool user's perspective, but razor users have found him pretty quickly).

To my knowledge, stu doesn't do anything with VAT so for someone in the US, stu's price is the price.

I've never been real clear about european retailers and vat or no vat, mostly because their sites are often not in english.

VAT is sales tax inside EU, it is not applied for sales outside such as USA.
