    Lapping a new 4/8 is a must, so do that first.

    However, don't expect instant results once you lap your stone. It still takes a lot of practice to learn to properly hone a razor.

    check out the JANORTON threads for some ideas on how to best utilize your nortons, then go to pastes, sprays, or straight to the strop; whatever you choose after that.
    Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.
