    I think I had the same "breakthrough"...I could not figure out for the life of me why I could not pop hair after doing 3-4 sets of circles on my King 1k! As it turns out, I was using FAR to little pressure, and when I re-tried the circles with a good amount of pressure I was able to get a MUCH better bevel. I used 3x sets of circles with good pressure on my Boker, and the rest of the progression went much smoother. I wasn't pulling my hair out after finishing the 4k and wondering why I couldn't pop hair!!

    You definitely got me there. I don't think I have ever been so frustrated trying to learn something than I have been with honing, but that's no news to you experienced guys. Sometimes the best thing is to walk away and come back later and I have done that at least dozen times with honing by now. That just makes your first true success even sweeter. The prize is out there.
