Thanked: 247My system for straights was never very complex to begin with...but yes, once I have a razor properly honed (good bevel set), things simplify remarkably.
Simple maint on a loaded strop or 12K finisher is all I seem to use. Perhaps over time, I will need more, but unless I hit the tap with the edge, I doubt it.

This might be a bit extreme for your needs as these razors can need some heavy work but might be worth a look:

I can't wait for my razors to lose their edge. When I finally get to touch them up, I use as many stones as I can involve in the process. I learned to hone properly before I learned to shave. Even if I quit straight shaving, I'd probably hone for the fun of it. I've honed for others and haven't gotten a dime out of it yet.
