    "...unless they are treat with shameful carelessness." This is the best part. These guys took their razors seriously.

    The best part for me was ........."draw the razor towards him in a manner somewhat circular" That tells me even then people were trying different aproach to the razor honing.

    I'm sure there were many honing experts in those days considering that half the population shaved and many probably did their own honing as well.

    Too bad their weren't shaving forums in those days. I'd love to read all the tips!
