Thanked: 36Correct type of chrom-ox?
Just bought some .5 micron chrom-ox "green honing compound" from sharpening supplies.com. Just wanting to make sure I have the correct chrom-ox for honing a straight razor before I put it on one side of my paddle strop.
Thanks in advance for assistance!

Thanked: 2591As long as it is pure it is all the same, some are rated 0.3 micron some 0.5, but I do not think one can feel any difference.
Since you bought from a sharpening oriented site, the CrO should be fine to use on razor.Stefan

Some of the bar stuff (e.g. Formax, once sold by Woodcraft ) contains particles as large as 6 microns. link: http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...tml#post440197

Thanked: 2284I know the stuff from leevalley is a chromium and aluminum oxide. Its still rated as 0.5 micron though, its just suppose to cut faster. Its what I use and it works great.
