    Default Correct type of chrom-ox?

Just bought some .5 micron chrom-ox "green honing compound" from sharpening supplies.com. Just wanting to make sure I have the correct chrom-ox for honing a straight razor before I put it on one side of my paddle strop.

    Thanks in advance for assistance!

As long as it is pure it is all the same, some are rated 0.3 micron some 0.5, but I do not think one can feel any difference.
Since you bought from a sharpening oriented site, the CrO should be fine to use on razor.

Some of the bar stuff (e.g. Formax, once sold by Woodcraft ) contains particles as large as 6 microns. link: http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...tml#post440197

I know the stuff from leevalley is a chromium and aluminum oxide. Its still rated as 0.5 micron though, its just suppose to cut faster. Its what I use and it works great.
