1st Swaty touch up
My Boker Edelweiss needed a touch up. It wasn't shaving as close as it use to and I thought it was time to use my "new to me" Swaty. I threw some lather on it and gave it 8 light laps. I was done before I was warmed up. I then gave the razor 50 laps on linen and 100 on leather. That's it and I was done. I shaved with it this morning and thought the edge did feel a little different but it felt fine. It gave me a lot closer shave than the day before but I thought 3 more laps on the Swaty would make it better. I just finished doing that along with the linen and leather stropping.
I'm really glad I bought this little stone. It's so easy and fast to use. The edges are fine with me and I didn't even use Chromium Oxide. That makes me wonder...How much of the Naniwa edge is left? I've only used 11 laps on the edge so I don't know if it's half Naniwa and half Swaty? Does that make sense?

If it felt different it likely is different but probably no issue to renew the naniwa edge should you choose to.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I would have to say the Naniwa edge is more keen than the Swaty. Am I saying that because that's what I'm suppose to think? Maybe...I don't think I have enough experience to really tell. I guess if I still don't know which I like better...they're both good? I also haven't used Chromium Oxide with the Swaty. It's just been the Swaty, linen and leather. I know one thing for sure, the Naniwa edge looks better through a jewelers loupe.
I should do a Naniwa vs Swaty showdown

Swaty made more than one model but I have seen instruction sheets where they said one side was finer than the other, even though they appear to be identical.. Just to throw more stuff into the game. IIRC the name brand side was finer but I'm not sure. So you might do a few laps on the one side and a few on the other and see if that doesn't improve it or not.

That is what the old barbers used to call a 'three line' swaty. Here are some instructions that I believe are correct for that hone.

I gave my Boker Edelweiss another 5 laps last night cause I did some hair test and found the toe wasn't as sharp as the rest of the blade. I was thinking that before I used the Swaty but wasn't sure until last night. I think it's starting to develop a slight smile or should I say half smile? Anyway, I focused on the toe while using the Swaty and the razor gave me a great shave today. After using the Swaty for a real short time, I'm going to say it gives me comfortable edges.
