Default 12K touch-up. Circles or just straight laps?

Looking at first touch-up of my Dovo stainless, which I've been using for a few months.

I notice in some of the online videos, use of "the circle method", but this seems to be more restricted to the lower grit stones.

Since I am only going to be using the 12K at this point, would it make any sense to start with some circles, to get at the imperfections from various angles, and then finish with straight laps? Good, bad, doesn't matter?

    Thanks

I generally, as you suggested, utilize the circle strokes for lower grits. If it were my razor, I would attempt a touch-up using straight or x-strokes first, maybe 20 to 30 laps, and proceed based on how that works.

Yup, pretty much as ace said.
10-20 x-strokes and go from there

No harm in circles, even at that stage, but I personally tend to stay with the x-strokes once the 12K level is reached.

    +1...

I feel like circles are better suited for actually removing steel, where you are using some pressure when doing them. I mean you could do them, you'll just want to be sure to use ZERO pressure. If I were you, I would just stick with X-strokes...

The main purpose of circles, as I understand it, anyway, is to remove steel faster. But when it comes to removing hair, a uniform scratch pattern will serve you better. Notice circles are always followed by X's.
