Default 1895-Essay on Razors & Razor Honing - Napoleon Le Blanc

I stumbled on this interesting 1895 essay on Straight Razors and Honing written by Napoleon Le Blanc. He talks about hones, where Cotiucles and Eschers are selling form $1.22 -2.00.

Interesting read, he says "Honing is an art mastered by but a few barbers". And advises that you cannot hone “when you feel dull and not in the honing mood.” That, probably is true.

I do question some advice like breaking in your strop by soaking you new strop in urine, he probably still laughing at that one and pasting your stops in lead. It is entertaining reading and there are some nice illustrationsand advertizments .
