    Which diamond plates would bend when doing hand held lapping??? I'm not saying what you've proposed is a bad idea, i think it's a good one, but curious nonetheless. The DMT i've had my hands on is way too thick, IMO, to bend when holding it in your hand.

    A friend had that problem with some diamond plate that is a thin film glued on a plastic base.
    I should have added, if you get a DMT or Atoma to bend, you are using way to much pressure.
