Thanked: 10Refreshing the blade
I have a newbie question here guys... whenever you refresh the blade, lets say on a Naniwa 12k, is it suitable to make a few passes on the CrO2 ??

I think that is up to you. Some people use it some don't. Lately I only use pastes to touch up the blade, but I don't follow my stones with it that much anymore.

Thanked: 4249You could probably maintain the edge with only the Cr02, many touch up the edge by making 5 to 10 laps after a few shaves. That said a few pass on paste after honing might smooth things out for you. Perhaps try without any paste and then with some and see what you like the most.

I've gone back and forth on this. For a time I was using diamond paste and CrO and then I used only hones.
These days I use the hones. It's the classic way and I don't see much time saved with pastes so there is no advantage for me. The only caveat there is a few select razors seem to really like the paste so for those that treatment is indicated. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
