Honing angle
When X'ing on my stone (blue and yellow) I found that keeping the blade at a smallish angle (10 - 20 degrees) with the heel leading makes it go over the stone a lot smoother.
The edge sharpness seems to be more consistent across the length of the blade also.
I did the last few laps on the yellow with the blade completely on the stone, at a 45 degree angle, and this seemed to give the smoothest finish.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing or is this a figment of my imagination?

I never tried it, I would worry though it might cause uneven wear of the hone.
